Was it locked on the tree or just strapped on?

Not that it makes a big difference if they really want to take it.. but I lock mine up with a python cable.. I think it keeps the Honest Hunter Honest .. if you know what I mean.. also some models you can put a code on them so that if they are stolen they can't be used anyway.. I have a code on my Moultrie Cam and registered it with Moultrie .. so if it is stolen and someone tries to call in and get the code reset or send it in and get it reset I am notified..

I don't know about the Skypoint.. I think Scott and Barry have them.. maybe they can help..

That's my biggest fear with having them, i seen primos makes a stand that goes up a tree 10 or 15 feet for that reason..

No it was not locked on just strapped, it was a older cam and had no way of locking it on.

I had got a video last year of 2 kids (13/14 years) old looking at one of my deercams and i should have locked them this year. if im going to spend good money on them i want some that can be locked on and can or can get a theft/bear box to put them in and takes good pic.

you just never know who is walking around a tree !!! :smt002

thanks
Brian

I don't have a security box for my moultries .. I just bought a 1/2 metal bar from Home Depot that would slide through the slots beside the straps .. then drilled a hole in each side big enough for the python cable to go through and secured it that way..

I can send you a pic of my setup if you are interested..

I have not used the G4 but do own a couple of the IR6s and one Pro-X. I really like all three.

I hate that your camera was stolen. I go a bit overboard on theft protection, very heavy bear safe that I lag bolt into the tree, then I run a cable lock through the camera and the box. Sad that you have to to that to keep people from stealing.

I have had two hang on stands stolen, one this year and one last. It absolutely makes my blood boil but there is not a thing I can do about it, other than catch them in the act. Also, had to drag a pretty 18" 6 pointer out of our field last year that someone shot at night and left. It really doesn't speak well of our sport but I guess it is just something we have to deal with. There are plenty of good people out in the woods also. Anyway sorry that it happened

But here is a good one. I had someone take the card out of one of my cameras this year in bow season. They easily could have taken the whole camera but just took the card. I am guessing they didn't want me to have a picture of them trespassing but were some what decent enough to not steal the camera. Camera was on a big scrape so maybe they wanted to see what was on it. Anyway, camera lid was open and card was gone. I found that kind of interesting.

I lock my platforms up on my hanging stands and my cameras to the trees with python cables.. maybe I am paranoid.. but so far have not had anything stolen.. I truly think it keeps the Honest man honest .. not many people carry a bolt cutter with them and don't take the time to go back and get one .. but if something is easily accessible like your camera card was they will do it.. just my .02

Brian,
I really like the Spypoint cams we have. Simple to use, great pics and really good battery life - over 3000 pics and several videos on last set of batteries so far/

I have two spypoints and like them both. The basic model does what I need but I got one better model to preview the pics, it has a built in LCD. I took a lot of pics with mine and I think I got 6 months out of the batteries.

Brian,
We have the IR-6 and the Bloodline. We just use any good AA batteries in them. Batteries are going on 6-8 months now
