OK, Neill let's see if we can get something going. How many of you have taken turkeys with multiple beards? 0 for me, but I saw one with two beards on a deer stand one morning. He flew off the roost right over me after first light.

I killed one in 2002.....He had a 11 inch primary beard and his second beard was about 3 inchs long........had one inch spurs and weighed 18 pounds.......had never seen one in real life until then

I was very fortunate to have taken only two Multi-bearded gobblers over the years. My first one was taken way back on 5-28-96, and I never knew that he had that 6-beards on him until after I walked up to him!!
Main beard was 10 3/8" long, followed by a 5", 3 - 5 1/2", and a short stubby 1". Being that the season was almost over, he only weighed 17 pounds. Here is a pic of that guy.



My second one was taken back on 5-30-03, again at the very end of our season here in NY. Main beard was just under 10" and the second one was 8" long. This guy was also a light weight at only 16.9 lbs!! See, that month long mating makes a gobbler loose almost 5-6 pounds of body weight!! Here's a pic of that one.

I have one particular farm I hunt that is about 900 acres. Three years ago I was hunting out there about 9:00 am and hooked up with a dandy longbeard. Once I had him on the ground I realized he had 2 beards, The main beard was 10.5 and the second one was 7 inches. The funny part to the story was later that afternoon a friend that can hunt the same farm came by the house, and said he had something to show me. He pulled out a set of beard and spurs that almost matched the turkey that I had shot that morning. His had double beards and the same lenght spurs. He told me where he shot it, and that he had shot it at first light. It turns out that not only did he kill that turkey on the same farm that I had killed my turkey but in the same 20 acre field. Almost 3 hours apart, him and I killed 2 double bearded longbeards in the same field. We would have never know this if He hadent stopped by.

my dad killed a bird back in the late 80's here in md with 5 beards. i killed a bird in missouri with 3 beards in 1995, 11" 7 1/2" and 5 1/2" beards 1 1/4" spurs and weighed 24 lbs. i have him mounted on my wall, how do you post pics? ill put some up if i can figure how.[/img]

I've never killed a multi-bearded gobbler, but I got a white hen last year with two straggly beards. I've seen a few white hens in Scott County, but no gobblers.

I've been given 2 gift turkeys from GN in Tennesse that had double-beards. Both taken on the same ridge probably 250 yards from one another on consecutive seasons. I don't think I've ever seen one in the areas that I hunt here in VA. I do however, have a spot, where the turkeys don't have all their tail-feathers... right GN?

Here are simple directions on one option for posting your photos on VA Turkey:

1) Go to www.photobucket.com and register or log on.

2) You will come to a page that has an "add picture" space. Hit the "Browse" button and locate the picture you have saved on your computer. Select that picture and then hit "submit"

3) The picture will upload to the Photobucket album and offer you three options: Url, Tag, and Img. Highlight and copy the Img line in its entirety.

4) Paste the Img line into your VA Turkey post. Submit it and you are done!

Tip: To avoid pictures being too large for the VA Turkey page, try something no larger than 60 kb or so. To find out the size of your photo file, right click on it where you have it saved in your computer and select "properties". Photobucket has an edit feature allowing you to reduce a photo by 25, 50, and 75%.
