What are you seeing early
I’m seeing some birds in groups of hens and others in male groups. Then drive 20 miles and look around and see broken up groups with 3-5 strutters and a group of a dozen hens. Still not seeing a single gobbler with a few hens so just starting to break up completely. Spring early here with all the early Japanese and star magnolias in towns in full bloom. So is wisteria. I’m not looking at any areas of high elevations yet.

Re: What are you seeing early
Our cams on the lease are still showing all the gobblers together.
It won’t be long.

Re: What are you seeing early
Went out listening for the first time this morning. Got to a spot down the road I know they like to roost around 0610. At 0615 I hear my first gobble. He hits on a barred owl and some crows. Im sitting there listening to him and I hear hens yelping. Look up into the treeline 300 yds away and see 16 hens! After they flew down into cow pasture gobbler came across field w three jakes. Pretty good morning but only one strutter

Re: What are you seeing early
Parked at my listening spot down the road this morning and had a bird gobble in a small woodlot behind me about 150 yds away! Watched him strut and gobble on the limb from 0705-0740 when he flew down with his hens

Re: What are you seeing early
Still in big groups in the northwest corner of the Commonwealth. I was out listening on Wednesday morning and saw a group of 12 hens followed by 5 longbeards. There seem to be a lot more birds in this area that there have been in a long while.

Re: What are you seeing early
Went out listening yesterday and heard a few birds down the road a ways. Drive down there just in time to have them meet me. Unfortunately I can’t hunt this spot
They’re definitely gobbling on the roost, but barely a gobble after fly down. Saw one strutter w/ 22 hens the other day!

Re: What are you seeing early
I’m laid up with a severe pinched nerve or stenosis in my back. Haven’t been able to Travel anywhere to hunt in the south.
But I have some good game camera pics in last few days from closer places. This one is exceptional I think.
