It was was an eventful one. I managed to get on numerous birds, had lots of them respond to the call and come in sight but on 4 different occasions, and I only hunted 8 mornings, when the bird/birds were in sight but just out of range they would get buggered at the dekes and go away. Had that happen with 3 different decoy setups, jake and hen, jake and 2 hens and just a single hen deke that had a live hen standing beside it while 2 gobblers looked at them before turning and going straight away.
ANYWAY.....
I did manage to use 2 tags and I owe to my good friend that does not turkey but sends me MRI on the birds on his property a big THANK YOU!
He sent me these trailcam pics. The arrows in the one shows where I set up my burlap blind on the edge his clover plot.
20 lb 2 oz 3 year old bird
I “field tested” this new African Blackwood tube and got this bird to respond late one morning and in just minutes he covered severel hundred yards and was soon strutting within range. 19 lbs but not sure about his age, spurs were sharp with a slight hook but short, barely an inch long. I'm guessing a 2 year old
This pic is a screenshot my buddy took from his video and shows the bird just as the load of #6’s struck him.
