Poults?????????
Guys I'm really concerned about the turkey hatch up here in NOVA. I have seen way too many hens by themselves or with gobblers in the fields in the afternoon. They should have hatched or sitting not good. I have noticed there are no many baby geese either in fact I have not seen a single gosling either but other people have told me they have seen a few. Has anyone seen any Poults????

No poults seen here at APG, but I haven't seen any turkeys either. Might still be on the nest. Vic

Re: Poults?????????
Finally- after a six week period of driving to go fishing in turkey country and along streams ---today at daylight l saw a hen and two poults about the size of a laying chicken . In the last six weeks I have seen several single hens and a pair of hens with no poults. Still hearing gobblers gobbling occasionally in mornings and mid mornings along streams.

Re: Poults?????????
GN, hope the fishing is good. Trout are tearing it up here, lots of fun. But still have not seen first poult. Hearing more gobbling the last 2 weeks then I did the whole VA season in the mornings. Also seeing lots of single and 2 or 3 hens with no poults. We had what I thought was a late hatch last year, hopefully the same will happen again. There were a lot of hens and Jakes around this spring.

Talked with a friend who said this past Sunday 5 different longbeards in separate locations were seen strutting and all were with hens still.

Yea that was Jim Clarke with his wife walking a certain road that splits 2 areas. Another Jim seen 4 single hens by them selfs and no poults. But heard 2 gobblers and seen a strutter by himself. Still no poult sighting through yesterday for me. Earl

Re: Poults?????????
I was headed out to a job Monday morning and saw two longbeards strutting in a field. They had been in that same field the first couple weeks of turkey season, disappeared during the season, now they are back.
