Hunted the morning, fought the wind, saw 1 sneak by at first light, gave up thoughts on an afternoon hunt due to the wind. Hope the coming week is better.

Re: opening day and it's awful quiet?!?!
Great to get back in a treestand. Didn't see a deer morning or evening. Did have a group of 7 gobblers come by checking on some persimmons in the evening.
Little sign being found except where mast is present, which is spotty, at least in Madison and Orange county.
Great to be out regardless.

Re: opening day and it's awful quiet?!?!
Congrats Doug! I shot a doe a couple Saturdays back with my crossbow. 15 minutes later 2 yotes chase her back past me. Tried to shoot both but they were really moving out. We gave pursuit but after around 300 yards we lost the trail and I just know those yotes ate my deer. Guess I need to do a little yote fixing.
Hope you all have a great season.

Re: opening day and it's awful quiet?!?!
Quite a bit of movement by 8:30-9AM Sat. in my area, got a shot at a doe but she was at 25-26 yards and I shot with my 20 yard pin and shot just underneath her. Should of used my 30 yard pin, shot when I got home to make sure everything was still on and it was so operator error. Had two more deer move thru Sat. evening but never close enough for a shot.
