thanksgiving bird down!
Never have I even seen a turkey on thanksgiving. I have had several pictures of a flock coming by at 7:30am or up to 8am. So I figured I would slip in close to my camera and try to get on one this morning. I was sitting there right at day light. I hear a few clucks which sounded like right on top of me. I was on a field edge that had some old oaks in. Like clock work 7:30 it sounded like b52 bombers over head. They land not even 15yds infront of me. They caught me with my gun down. What to do? Sat motionless for 5 min which seemed like eternity. I knew if I slowly raised my gun they would fly off. I waited till the biggest tom was infront of me at 10yds. And I figured I had to go for it. Raised my gun as fast as I could and sent one down range! Could it be I just pulled off the thanksgiving slam? Yes sir..... bird down. I had to thank god right there for the best season of my life. I never got on a bird in the spring. I felt like I failed this yr. So then comes deer season and everything went awesome. And now a thanksgiving bird down I couldn't be happie 18 1/2 pounds 1inch spurs and 9 1/4 inch beard

Re: thanksgiving bird down!
Thanks guys. I sure do appreciate it. Beard collector yeah I do my own fan mounts. I started one on this guy yesterday afternoon. Me and my wife are not fans of the traditional way of fan mounts with the plaque. So I change it up and do different things. Most may remember the cross one I done. We were in the craft store thet other day and noticed they had some new things. Hope this one will better than any I have done before. He definitely had a pretty fan.
