Rode around in SW VA today. I saw at least 30 hens in fields and there was at least one gobbler with every group. I don't think the breeding is over just yet, we'll see about the gobbling.

If the weather would break, I think there will be some great hunting ahead

Took a break from the turkeys this morning and took the dog on a walk around the neighborhood at 6:00 AM. One bird on the opposite side of the subdivision from my house was double/triple/quadruple gobbling on the roost. I think he was mocking me.

I’ve never heard any birds behind my house before, but he was only 0.6 mile or so from my house. Hope he works his way around to the woods behind my house next week! Some birds must be still gobbling.

Only heard one bird gobbling this morning, when i normally hear three or four. And he would only shock gobble. He did have at least one hen with him though. I think the storm last night put them in a rough mood this morning

I took a first time hunter out Tuesday morning and heard about eight different birds gobbling. Two gobbled on the roost seemed like every 5 seconds for 30 minutes. Heard four birds in a group gobbling that came into about fifty yards and wouldn't come any closer. Later in the morning called a couple in to about 20 yards. He just couldn't get a shot. Gobbled the entire time. Probably the best gobbling I've heard all year. It is his land so I've not been back in there, but we will be back in the morning.

This morning in Halifax County I heard zero gobbles, not even from the roost. First time this season I've heard nothing, and at a place where I have heard multiple gobblers every other time I went this season. I hope Cking is right that it was the storms during the night.

Last evening I snuck out to the edge of a field I thought there may be some birds in. I saw three longbeards together, about 100 yards off. I got out of sight, called, no response. I waited 5 minutes and snuck back to where I could see them. They were all standing a little farther away. I yelped and gobbled on the Haint, and one of the gobblers gobbled and started strutting. At one point he gobbled about 10 times in 30 seconds, and that was at 6:45 PM. A hen on the opposite side of the birds from me clucked twice, and they all went toward her. Every time I'd cackle he'd gobble, steadily walking the other way. I waited for them to come back, but that didn't happen.

Gobbling was back to normal this morning. So was ignoring my calls.

 Send some of those birds here. On the base this week (Mon through today) very little to no gobbling and 0 birds have been taken or shot at. And some good hunters out there after them.

Good to hear its picking up for some.

Had one only gobble two or three times, another do the same thing and then one that gobbled every 15 seconds but headed the other way. I'll just keep after them I guess. They gotta be running out of hens by now...hopefully.
