I agree about the Avian X decoys. I have an Avian X feeding hen (this is my 3rd year using it) and I just bought the Avian X Jake this year before VA youth day and I am blown away with the good reaction I've seen to both. I don't use decoys a lot, but 3 of the birds we've killed so far this year were killed using the hen/jake combo and the turkeys were totally fooled by them. This past Saturday in PA I took my 73 year old Mom and called in 2 longbeards and 3 hens (my 14 yr old son helped me call them in...how about that for cool...calling in a turkey for your Grandma :)) and when the gobblers came in they attacked the jake. I finally told her to shoot before they ruined my $100 jake. :) LOL

I agree they are bulky (I leave them blown up as well) but its worth it if you want to use a realistic decoy. I can't say enough good things about them; sounds like others agree.

I have been using the inflatable jake and hen decoy by Cherokee sports, seem to work well. I have a Cableas full strut decoy that I got cheap back in Sept. but I haven't used it yet. Don't have a lot of fields to hunt and the one I do I would never put the jake or the strutting decoy out. Too close to a main road!

Any of you had any negative responces to the use of "gobbler decoys"... this year. I've forund with the season running a little behindhere in the Flatlands that birds have not as eager to run up to the strutter decoys, the first week anyway.... I backed off the use of it and started setting out hens only. Now, just pulled my jake decoy out, hoping they like what they see! Will probably use my Strutter next week. Just seems to me,as opposed to most seasons.... the strutter has not been had a "sold sign" around his neck. Just Sayin :D
