late morning sucess
Me and Shane went out this morning hoping to get on one quick. Shane had til 8 then had other obligations. We heard a few and called up 4 jakes but that was it. I took Shane home and grabbed me a drink and a pack of nabs and headed back out to another spot. Around 930 i heard one and decided to go after him. As i got to were i wanted to get i bet 10 deer took off and went right toward the gobbler! Well i hated that but decided just to sat down and wait awhile til all calmed down. I could hear a gobbler across the river and he was really tearing it up. I gave a few calls and no answers so decided to move up the ridge about 50 yds and set up. I gave a few calls and once again nothing so decided to pick up the pace and start cutn and cacklin. Well that got the answer i was wanting to hear. I wasnt very vocal unless i would cut to him. Around 1030 he answered again but seemed like he has moved away from me so i picked up and moved too. I gave a call and answered me right in front of me just out of site. This place is thick and the farthest that i could see is about 30-35 yds but thats looking thru saplings and brush! The next call another answer and could tell any minute i shoulld see this bird. Then i see a white head and full fan heading toward me. At 30 yds a few clucks made his head raise enough for a shot! I love these kind of hunt were you have to move a few times to get them to come. He weighed 20.5 lbs, 10 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. When i left the one across the river was still hammering! Doug

Very nice. Ol Shane is gonna be really out of inventory before long.
