Kodiak Alaskan Brown bear hunt - PICS!!!
I was fortunate to draw a tag this Fall for a Brown bear hunt in Alaska. The trip was a blast, one of my brothers has been guiding in AK for 7-8 years so I was super prepared for what was to come. We really enjoyed our time afield, had a bunch of good laughs, some tough hikes, COLD & WET weather, but dang it was the most fun I've ever had! Back to the grind so I can do it again, man it's addicting! Anyone interested in Brown bear hunting in AK, let me know, Will & Mike def. know what they're doing & I HIGHLY recommend them! Lee Neal's/Big Timber's Lady L, what an awesome transporter! Big Timber lodge Brothers! 2 Tundra swans on a salmon creek Can you say COLD! View of our camp one morning High on the mountain glassing for bears Another vantage point Same pic, different day after it "warmed" up An eagle perched on this rock outcropping. There was a large sow stuck on the rock face about 150 yds. from this eagle, we watched her for 30 min. before motoring off. When we came back by a few hrs. later, she was still there. The tide was at +26' that day so we figured she came in and got pushed up where she got stuck. The bruin!

Congrats, that looks like an awesome time............I would love to go up there and hunt them!!! Don't think it will be in the cards for me for a few years though. I remember you asking about the gun to use. What did you decide on for rifle, scope and binos?

Re: Kodiak Alaskan Brown bear hunt - PICS!!!
Those are some great pics! Thanks for sharing! I was just up in Kodiak in July working on the Coast Guard base. My Dad went with me, but he didn't work, just fished. We brought over 110 lbs of king, pink, and chum salmon, halibut, and rockfish fillets home. What part of the island were you hunting? We fished the Russian, American, and Buskin Rivers mainly. Great food and an awesome place to visit. How big was that bear?
