Post opening day showdown
Before i start with my story id like to say congrats to everyone that scored on opening day!

I have been watching 2 different gobblers on our farm for the last couple weeks and new that this is where my brother and i would spend opening morning together. we got set up on the field edge about 150 yards from where one gobbler roosted yesterday evening and 200 yards from the other gobbler. As the the sun begain to rise the first gobbler started to gobble, and let me tell you he gobbled his head off for 30 minutes. The bird that we were closiest to gobbled a few times in reponse to the very vocal gobbler. As fly-down time grew near i begain with a few tree yelps that were answered by both gobblers. Once fly-down time was upon us i did a flydown cackle and beat my hat on my leg which was answered by both gobblers again. I decided that i would play the old quite game on them after that. A few minutes passed by and the closiest gobbler gobbled and i could tell he was on the ground and comeing. I sat and watched as he crossed the creek and entered the field about 75 yards away. When he entered the field i yelped to let him know where i was, and he saw my decoy and began to put on one of the most incredible shows i have seen. He went in full strut and spit and drummed all the way to the decoy which was 25 yards from my set-up. My brother was videoing the whole show and i made sure that he was on the gobbler and when he said yes i lit the fire behing the 3 1/2 inch winchester xtended range number 6's and ended the show. This was the first hunt that i have ever got on video and i cant stop watching it. The bird weighed 21#'s and had a 10 inch beard and 1 inch sharp spurs. My brother and i always hunt opening day together and it was very special to have him film for me. After checking my bird in we tryed to get on a bird for him but couldnt find any other birds that were willing to gobble so we will be after them again next week. Thanks for reading this and good luck and be safe.
