Abby's First Longbeard... As told by Abby
Daddy rolled me and Mommy out of bed early in the morning and we got our clothes on and headed out the door. The moon was really bright and it was freezing cold. We had to sneak in the blind really quiet. We got everything arranged in the blind then we waited for daylight.
There were turkeys gobbling behind us and another one was gobbling down to the right. It was about 7:00 when we heard some turkeys above us in the edge of the woods. So Daddy called one down the hill and he walked really fast to the jake decoy. He walked down to the other hen and started to make the decoy look at him. So he walked up to the other decoy and tried to get it to look up. Then he started to get mad at the jake decoy. He walked this way and that way then I got a shot at him before he went behind the tree.
Daddy got so excited he was pushing me out of the blind to go stand on his head. When I got there Daddy ran up and I said "He's CHUBBY!" and Dad said I was right! Then Mom came out and squeezed me half to death and I couldn't carry him but halfway back to the car. He weighed 21.5 lbs and his beard was 9.5". The spurs were very sharp and they were 1".
We got to Mawmaws house and she fixed us pancakes! Mine had a lot of syrup!! Then we went to show the Kesler's my turkey. We got home and we changed clothes to go to the Easter Egg hunt at my Church.
We just got home from taking my turkey to the taxidermist. (http://www.mcguirestaxidermystudio.com)
Thanks for reading! I know you were all waiting for my story! Hopefully my Daddy will put the video up tomorrow!
Good luck to everyone!

Abby that sounds like a great day. Easter bunny was all over the place on that day. I like your new picture.

I'm so very, very proud of you Ms. Abby! You are quite the accomplished hunter. One day, you'll call in a bird for this ol' man and we'll have a grand ol' time. Congrats and REALLY, REALLY big high fives all round!
