This will be my first year hunting in Va. I hunt alot in Southeast Wv. I have looked at some of the game land there around Narrows and would like to know what others thank of it? Is it worth trying?

Re: Looking for spots to hunt around Narrows Va.
Skinner,
I live in Pearisburg and have been hunting in Narrows a pretty good amount. Really, your best bet in Giles Co. is more towards the Staffordville area or out towards Pembroke/Maybrook/Eggleston area. There is alot of National Forest land around Narrows, particularly up Clendennin Rd. and Pocahontas Rd. My experience is that there are birds in there, but the terrain is steep and the birds don't exactly put on much weight. My average NF bird weight is around 18 lbs for a full grown gobbler. The birds down on the farmlands in the valleys are usually over 20 lbs. If I can help you out anymore just let me know!
Ok thanks. I went up and looked at the game land on Pocahontas Rd.yeasterday. It looks like there is some good ridges and flats in there. That is about the only place I have been to know how to get to other thin big Stoney creek.
