I went for about a 10 mile bike ride this evening right before dark just like I usually do both for exercise and to see the critters come out. As I rounded an uphill corner next to some thick tall pines I shifted gears causing the only noticeable sound around me....and got gobbled damn near off my bike. Roosted just off the road, and angry at mechanical bike noises, two throaty toms let me have it. I've done some shock gobbling before but never in my years have I been shock gobbled. Great ride!

When you leave out pumpkin neck been two strutters in the field to the left, the northern neck was picked in Va.game and fish as the best place for turkey hunting with birds per square mile i know it's only a prediction but everywhere i've been has produced gobbling action. I've been hunting this region for turkey i'm guessing since 1998 and i can only remember maybe 4 great spring season's.

I remember working in Maryland when you go in gate b along 301 was always turkey's feeding alongside the base road that follows 301. Was working in ageis building one day on base we rode out for lunch and were the bunkers are was birds struttin out there.
