My New Toy
I've finally broke over to try something lighter this year. After carrying my 1300 for I don't know how many seasons I've decide on a change. I got to thinking of the number of times I've had to or got to shoot more than once at a turkey and out of twenty some years it has been only a couple. Once I killed a bird on the second shot and once I missed twice at one running away. Now I'm not say I haven't missed more birds than that but those are the only ones I can recall shooting at more than once most birds I've missed never offered me a second shot. So after much debate I've decided to try a single shot this year this baby hear weighs right at 6lbs with the sling on it and about 6 1/2lbs with scope and base vs 8 3/4lbs for my 1300. I've tried the Hevi Magnum Blends and have some Nitro Mega Weights and a Rhino to try as well. I feel very confindent in it with the Hevi Shot choke and Blends out to 40 yards but I'll do some more testing this weekend. One thing for sure Running and Gunning and climbing those steep knobs around here will be a little easier this year (I hope).

Nice looking set up. One shot, one kill. Let us know how the testing goes.

Re: My New Toy
Great looking gun! I've been contemplating getting one for a while now and after seeing this post I'm going to do it. Headed off to the gun shop now!

Re: My New Toy
Well, the trip to the gun shop didn't go very well. The owner told me that he doesn't have any and can't get any. He told me since Thompson Center was bought out by Smith & Wesson it has been really difficult to get their firearms, especially the pro hunter shotguns.
Any suggestions on where I can find one?

Re: My New Toy
S&W bought T/C out about 5+ years ago, I have not seen a problem with their supply unless it is a brand new product. I have a T/C turkey gun also. I have several Encore frames including a predator Pro-Hunter. So I just bought a 12 gauge forearm and turkey barrel. I love mine, first year with it last year and I shot two birds with it.... Buds Gun Shop has the Pro-Hunter 12 gauge and 20 gauge. Price is $703 which includes shipping & handling http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... 2GA+APCAMO

Re: My New Toy
I bet it has a little bite to it with the 12ga barrel but it would be worth it for the easy carry. I hope once I get the bore polished on mine and my Rhino in it that I won't look back at my heavy 12ga. Is that mossy brush camo on that stock and frame? I might get a 17 rem or 17 hornet to fox hunt with next season.

Yes, Mossy Oak Brush. I bought the Predator Pro-Hunter in .223 rem. I tape the barrel and forearm for now plan on having them dipped.
