If testimony from Senate debates on this is any indication, Sunday hunting opponents in the House are sure to paint images of hordes of hunters descending on Virginia's countryside on Sundays, their guns blazing.

Supporters of Sunday hunting will counter with assurances that rural Virginia won't turn into a war zone on Sundays.


The reality is, gunshots are a part of life in rural Virginia, and not just during November.

Most rural gunshots are actually the result of target shooting, which is perfectly legal - and quite popular - on Sundays, twelve months of the year.

If this bill passes, all those folks who are concerned about the noise of gunshots should rejoice. With all those hunters actually hunting and not shooting at targets (a lot), Sundays in the country stand to get a lot quieter.
