Mid December Buck Down

CavMan11 Longbeard Joined: Mon Nov 08, 2010 10:02 pm Posts: 160	Mid December Buck Down Last Wednesday everything worked out well for me and I finally was able to put a nice buck down this year. I decided to hunt a stand set up in some semi open woods close to a thicket. I had been consistently seeing does move through the area in the evenings. Sure enough, a doe and fawn came through about 4:30. They fed around me and right under my stand but seemed slightly nervous. I soon found out why, as this big guy came out of the thicket and angled towards the does. I shot him at 35 yards through a lane I had cleared earlier in the year and watched him go down about 50 yards beyond that. It was a great hunt and made even better when I was able to show the landowners son's how to field dress the buck, which they enjoyed. This year has really showed me the value of keeping at it and not giving up(Im too stubborn to). I had not been able to put a nice buck down up to this point despite hunting any chance I could get off work. He is an 11 point, 12 you could put a ring on. 14 inches wide inside but good mass. G2 is 8 inches and G3 is 6. Check out whats going on with the brow tines.
