Post South Dakota Mulie **Now with pics!
Non typical Mulie in South Dakota....Jeff and I left Va on the 9th of Nov and arrived in South Dakota on 10th of Nov....after huntin 2 days and seeing only Doe's Jeff lowered his standards and got a nice 6 pt on Monday (244 yd shot on his Whitetail)...Tuesday after settin and shakin from the cold we decided to cut and wrap his deer and take it to the processer to freeze.....Wed morning we decided to hunt half a day and start packin up for the early morning thursday departure....we headed to a different spot where we had seen a Mulie buck and doe the evening before and riding around with our main contact....as luck would have it we parked and headed up a small ridge to a saddle to peek over the side...Jeff was about 10 feet in front of me, he stooped down and came back to me and said Dad...big Mulie buck over on the other side....we belly crawed up to peek over and there he was...we were both laying down at that point and with my rifle resting on his back pack, I let it fly...the deer jumped and was out of sight over the top of a small coolee....we watched an knew he didn't come out of there.....long story short...we skirted around to our left, and saw his right side main beam stickin out of the grass...was good to get our hands on that dude....The Mulie was a main frame 4x4 had 15 points total....23 inch outside spread....31 inches around the neck....171 lbs dressed and 222 live wgt....got him with my Mod 70 winc 30.06 150 grain Winc bullets...@ 247 yds...was a great trip....great hunt...we both got what we were after...met some great land owners....we had access to 11,000 acres....oh...I didn't mention ,the weather that morning was 18 above, winds 20 mph and the wind chill was minus 7....glad we got it over with early.....The head is going on the wall....

Wow, great buck. I was curious if this was a public land/diy hunt or did you go guided?
