What is the punishment for breaking EAB? Does anyone know of anyone that has broken it?

I've often wondered if it would work here (NOVA) as well. I have a feeling a lot of guys shoot a buck, then just call in a doe that they didn't shoot, so they can shoot a 2nd buck "legally" Personally I think it's going to skew the EAB counties harvest #s a good bit.

Dang Barry you sure shot a lot of deer this year! Just kidding. Looks like your brother has his work cut out for him. Did anyone think EAB was going to work? At Aberdeen where I hunt it is more tightly controled, so it does work there. In the state with no one really watching I never thought it would work. 2 cents.

Agreed with the call in system and EAB program is a joke. EAB and a physical check-in system will work. But not the way they have it now. When I heard of them doing it with a call in systme I just laughed. We need guy in place in leadership that have a clue what to do. I say one buck a year and 4 does for 5 years and we'll be just like KS, IL, OH, KY.

We are in Franklin County and use DMAP. Having our own check station and also having to pull each jawbone and send to the state for aging solves this. Unfortunately not everyone is on DMAP and the state could not handle everyone sending in a jawbone.

There will always be those who shoot more than the limit of bucks, don't check deer, or otherwise break rules.

EAB is designed to increase doe harvests and reduce the deer population in fact, not just on paper. The program is working if more hunters kill does than otherwise would have. Even if there are some that don't follow the rule, there are many more that do. That results in more does being killed, which is the goal of the program.

Check by phone is generally more accurate and logistically cheaper than check stations. Having physical check stations would not necessarily increase compliance with the rule. There would just be more deer unchecked.

I support EAB. I think it has helped stabilize deer herds in the counties it's in place. That's partially evident from the number of guys griping about not seeing deer
