Calling in coyotes for the kill
I have hunted fox for a number of years and have had really good sucess. And i want the same with the turkey egg eating coyotes i call to the from fields at night. Using both howls and distress calls, they howl and bark back and come closer and closer til they reach the edge of the field and just stay in the hedgerow any tips or advice for getting them to come out for a shot would be helpful.

Re: Calling in coyotes for the kill
Yea i made a moving decoy with a weasel ball and a shooting stick so ican adjust the height, hadnt had a chance to put it to the test yet. What kind of setup and calling technique works for you?

Re: Calling in coyotes for the kill
If they aren't coming close enough to see the decoy it won't matter either way. The best advice I can tell you is to set up a treestand just for the sole purpose of killing coyotes. Take note where they are howling before dark which is usually close to the same place. Set up near there in the mornings either howl or use a distress call. But make sure you are in the woods. It's not impossible to call them across a field in the daylight but they prefer cover. Start off with low volume first. This ain't a sure thing but it has proven very fatal to several for me.

If you want to place the caller in the field, set up on the avenue of approach, ie the game trail. Or call them out with coyote sounds rather than a distress call. I've heard them sounding off and called them right up to me in a field by imitating the sounds they make.
