Hi, I'm new to the board and hail from Chambersburg, PA. This will be my second spring hunting in Virginia. I've been chasing turkeys around PA for about the past 15 years and decided to "branch out". I've enjoyed reading this board over the past year or so and decided it was time to join up.

I'm Jimmy Thomas. My wife and I moved to Roanoke County in the fall of 2006 from Hampton, VA. I have always been into hiking, fishing and camping and have always loved the mountains. After moving here, where I can actually shoot a bow or gun at my house (I used to live 15 feet from the house next door in Hampton), I got a bow and began practicing. I had never hunted anything before. I started deer hunting this past fall (07) and killed one doe with my bow- my first deer at age 34, better late than never. After bow season, I picked up a muzzleloader for extra deer season time and a shotgun for turkey hunting. I'm learning as I go, and I plan to hunt turkey for the first time this spring.

Let me add to this, I have moved to Glade Hill, Va I still work for the county as a computer/network technician. I am also an aspiring call maker. I have been married for 12.5 years and have two lovely daughters. I love this and as long as the good Lord gives me breath I will continue to play the game.

I am R.O. and I live in Richmond, VA. I have been turkey hunting for something like 17 years now, mostly on private land where I grew up, but lately I have been trying to explore public land options. It's great to explore new property, and VA has some good resources.
I have two sons, 3 years old and 5 months old, which make it difficult to get out in the woods too often in the immediate future, but longer term I can't wait until they're the reason I'm going out.
I also have an amazingly supportive wife when it comes to turkey season, although she doesn't understand my love for it. The only time I've taken her after birds the woods were silent all morning and she fell asleep almost immediately.
I work for Ernst & Young in IT Audit/Advisory Services (sorry Freddy).

Who are we?
My name's Jason. I'm in the Army (18 years now) and live in Fayetteville, NC with my wife of 12 years and my girls (8 and 5). I'll be stationed up in FT Lee for a few months and will catch the end of your VA turkey season. I joined this forum to see if I could get a decent bit of direction as to where to go near Petersburg / Richmond while I'm up there. I don't want to "steal" anyone's spots or take anyone's bird; just want to hunt in Virginia where you have a much better chance of bagging one than down here. I hunt everywhere I'm stationed and use every opportunity I have to hunt and fish.
I've been deployed so often the last 15 years of my 18 that I hardly ever have the time that I would like to hunt and fish so I use my time to the fullest. This school up at FT Lee will give me a chance to have some time to focus on what I love best; to be outdoors.
I'm looking at Chickahominy Game Land since it's closer to where I'll be. Of course, if anyone has any private land they could send me to, I'd be very appreciative and would pay if necessary (and donate the meat). Or, if there are any reputable guides in the area, that may be my best bet since I won't have a whole lot of time to scout. I'll be up there on the 29th of APR and will be there through 13 AUG, so anyone who wants to go along, just say the word.
This is a great website and I'm glad I found it. Thanks, Freddy.

Well I'm 43 years old. I hunt the mountains of Western Md. I'm a Mechanic and I LOVE TURKEY HUNTING!!!! Nothing I would rather do then sit on a hardwood ridge turkey hunting... I've been turkey hunting since 1993. I killed my first wild turkey in 1995. I spent 10 years in the USMC. One of the reason why I kinda got a late start turkey hunting

I'm a 21 year old student at Virginia Tech from Berryville Va. in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. I love being in the outdoors and bowhunting , turkey hunting, and flyfishing are my biggest passions. I also love sports and played one year of college soccer and I am very involved in youth sports leagues. I've learned a lot from this board, and got my first bird this spring! Looking forward to talking to some of you guys about this addicting sport of turkey hunting.

My name is Johnny Lanier, I came by the name "pdawg" many years ago as I am usally the primary dog in the fall when we do deer and bear drives. I live in Bedford co VA and grew up hunting here. My first turkey hunt was with a nieghbor, Lewis Huff in April of 1983. I was instanly hooked and fortunately Lewis had a hot daughter, Michelle which I married in Dec. 1993. We have 2 kids, son Kyle (Killer Kyle) 10 years old, and daughter Shelby 7 years old. I have visted this site at times since its beginning however I have never been one for the computer. My work has forced me to use this thing so I have finally joined and became active. Thanks to my best friend Brian Vandruten (Blackheel) for getting me up and going with the site. I have really enjoyed it so far. I spend most of my time hunting with my son KK and love seeing him delevope into a very accomplished woodsmen. (See Heck of a First Gobbler posting) My daughter is also coming on strong and loves to hunt and fish. Lucky Me.
