Here is a step by step on how to make your gun shoot better, not matter what tube or shells you use... this has been posted before...something to do now before the season.here is some information from a fellow named John

Are there any risks to doing this?....I have a tendency to be accident pron sometimes and i can see me messing it up or something!....I would like to try......could you tell me things i can do to help me not mess up.......oh yeah thats some great advice.....

GUESS THERE ARE RISKS ANYTIME YOU USE ANY KIND OF A MACHINE...WEAR GLASSES ETC..THE DRILL OR ROD YOU USE CAN TAKE THE FINISH (BLUEING) OFF THE BARREL OR GUN IF YOU LET ROTATING METAL HIT METAL, SO BE CAREFUL THERE ...i WOULD CLEAN THE CHOKE TUBE AS WELL IF YOU ARE USING A SCREW IN TUBE...I DDI THIS WITH MY BARRRELS ON THE GUN IN THE CASE OF THE nef 10, BUT TOOK OFFTHE BARREL FOR THE 870 AND THE OTHER BIRD GUNS i USE FOR UPLAND HUNTING...A VISE WOULD BE A BIG HELP TO HOLD THE BARRELS FIRMLY ALTHOUGH i DO NOT HAVE ONE...

Great tip!!! I'll have to try that before the season starts here in NY.

the results are worth the effort...i improved my patterns by 15% using this technique.

I like using JB Bore Paste in my rifles. It is a VERY VERY mild abrasive polishing compound, like jewlers rouge. After reading your post Gn, I think I will use it in my shotgun.

I did this last spring to my 870.....absolutely shocking at the improvement of my patterns......it turned a "Beast" into a "MONSTER" !!

I have been doing this also, and I use the Green (medium) 3M pad. I have also finished off with the blue (fine) 3M pad. Sure makes your barrel look nice and pretty.

Scott has given correct info ,at least it is what I used.

JUst got done and man what a shine! It was easy once i figured out how to hold the drill and barrel. My wife came out and asked why i was not using the vise i just had to have last year:) women!

I spent a couple of hours polishing five barrels the other day....they sure look pretty , turkey guns, ducks gun, bird gun...

Has anyone tried this on a chromed barrel?
