I think Diablo has bought stock in Limbsaver recoil pads......In all seriousness, I've heard those limbsaver recoil pads are worth every penny.....I haven't used one, yet.....
I'm in on the paper experiment, btw.

40 yds. 121 shot in the circle
25 yds. 224 shot in the circle
Win HV 3 1/2 in. #5, 2 oz.

Also maybe we could get a "STICKY" topic started just for the results.

This will be the third year in row that I been using Nitro hevishot turkey loads, specifically their H378 shell. This is a 3" load of coated Tri-PLex Hevishot in #4, #5, and #7 sized shot. I was told about this shell and the Rhino choke tube by the "Preacher", another very serious turkey hunter, who was at the NYS turkey calling contest back in 2002. He showed me some of his pattern targets that he brought with him, and I was simply awe stricken!!! So I took the plunge and called Nitro company and talked to Sandy about ordering a Rhino choke and some Nitro loads for my Winchester 1300. Here is an actual pattern target I shot at approx. 40 yards (38 actual). That is a 10" circle that I aimed at, and as you can see, the pattern was a little off to the left because I was sighting in my scope at the time. Afterwards, I sectioned off that target and began counting pellet holes. I counted an honest 316 pellets inside that 10" circle, and this was at 38 yards!!! So as you can imagine, I'm quite tickled at the preformance of these shells at that distance. I can highly recommend these shells along with that Rhino choke tube to anyone who is looking for the ultimate pattern!!

as tight as that pattern is you surely need a scope for that outfit.

wow i didnt see the pic of the pattern, i would say awesome, my benelli with 3.5, 2 1/4 load win shells, put over 100 pelets @ 30 and over 50 at 40yards, i was tickled to death over that. is the 7 1/2 heavy enough to kill a bird? i love 6's, but if the 7 1/2 works, thats much more pellets. i shot some light 1 1/4 duck heavy shot loads from by 11-87 when they first came out, and it was impressive, but was scared about which choke to use, they had not came out with the special heavy choke at that time. are they worth buying the choke and trying now?

Just got back from the range folks:
Jeff heres my info.
I shot 2 targets@40yds of 8.5x11 with a centered 3.5" circle in the middle.Placed it behind target with circle in middle of turkey targets neck.
Target #1 Total pellets= 237 circle=28
Target #2 Total pellets= 287 circle=32
Avg of 2 is total=262 circle=30
I pulled right on target #1...#2 is actually more relistic that #1.. Jeff you can use the avg or either of the 2 taget counts
STATS:
Gun= Moss 835
Choke=Star Dot (.670)
Sights=2.5x20mm Leupold
Shell= Nitro Companys 4x5x7(h) 3.5"
Rcoil Pad= Sims (thank God)
Fired 10 rds in all ... after changing rings had to start scope in from scratch. I fired 2 at 25 yd....softball sized swarm of holes in the targets..shoulder is actually good.. I fired 10 rds thru a 270WSM after the 835 and I am not even sore.....GO LIMBSAVER!!
Jeff if you need futher just shout!
[/img]
These are the turkey targets from 25yd and my last 40yd shot. I did not have the 8.5"x11" behind either of these.

Max,
Amen on the recoil pad. Here ought to be Mossberg's slogan for the 835. "The Mossberg 835, kills at one end, maims at the other!" Isn’t that the gospel truth! After shooting mine 12 times with 3 1/2" shells, I got a down right aversion to shooting it. I had to wait quite a while before I would get enough nerve to shoot it again.
Funny thing thou, when I was at Freddy's and I killed that bird, I never felt a thing!

swince nobody has posted here in a month, I thought maybe I woul;d tell you folksthat I broke down and bought a leupold 1-4 scope to try on mty 870 3 inch, with either the Bansner 21 barrel or the remington factory 26in barrel with screw in stuff. I alos bought one fo those red dot things (BSA?) to go on my 10 guage NEF with the Gobblin Thunder from Kicks as I felt i was not focusing well on open sioghts anymore and would try this scope stuff again...I got disgusted with the things about ten years ago...and swore I would never use one again..never and always are two words to avoid .....anyway...I sort of got the things sighted in with a bore lazer and then went to the field and followed some good diablo advice and shot some dove loads at 20 yds and got it right and then came back at 40 yds with the big boys...no excuses now...except for fogged scopes or something likethat..haha...I swear the 3 inch gun kicks as much as the 10 btw...
