Post Pic's finally back!!
Here are a couple of pic's of my NY gobbler taken on May 1st!!
I was using a brand new Box Call that morning, made for me by Jerry Zebro out of WI. I think it worked very well!! LOL!!
Birds Stats: 19.6 lbs, 8" beard, and 7/8" spurs. Presently still working on bird #2 here in NY!! Wish me luck in the morning!!

Paul,
Congrats on a nice looking bird. The gobblers would not play along with us when I was up in NY earlier this month. They would gobble awesome on the roost but as soon as they hit the ground they clammed up and we never heard another peep out of them for the rest of the day. However the last morning I did shoot a jake witha 5.5 inch beard and it weighed in around 15 pounds. Keep it up and let me know how the rest of the season goes.

Awesome Job,

Tom

Paul,

Nice looking bird. Guess there are a few birds left in NY. I went to school at Alfred State college. Saw lots of deer sign there but no turkey. Where abouts do you hunt?

That bird was taken in Catt. county, one of the top three counties for birds in NY. The other two are Chautauqua, and Erie. I went to Erie county this morning, and called in two jakes right to the hen decoy. I let them walk and hit another woods, but it was quiet as a Church!! Will be headed back out in the morning.

Isn't that where Peter Jenkins (author of Walk Across America and other books) went to school also?

Nice bird! Are you hunting public or private land?

How late does your season go up there? I might look into a NY hunt next year!! It seems like one season just isn't enough . . . unless you ask my wife!!

TScott,

It might be, I am not sure. The town of Alfred is interesting, on one side of the stream is Alfred State College and the other is Alfred University. I do know that Alfred University has a highly touted literary department. It might be that he went to the University. If I get a chance I will check. I will say this, Alfred State College was my best experience in education, period. I have since gone to several other schools and nothing compares to Alfred. The Professors are there to teach and have a student focus. But I digress.
