Finally!!!
After a pretty frustrating season dealing with henned up birds I finally closed the deal this am. I called up three longbeards and hammered the strutter at about fifteen yards then watched as the other two whipped up on his body for a few minutes. He was 21 lbs., 11 in beard and 1 3/4 spurs. I killed two longbeards this past fall so I guess the rest of the spring is going to be spent with video camera in hand. Gotta love this sport!!! What in the world do people do that don't hunt?

Hey, you are supposed to measure those hooks from where they poke out of the back of the legs, not from the front side of the legs Just Kidding, great bird. Show us some pics.

You should have seen my smile when I saw them!! Is it too late to enter the contest? I don't have a digital cam so I'll try and scan some pics and get them up.

That's a great bird; it should score as one of the best ever taken in VA! Are you considering entering it in the big game contest? It should easily take first place. Looking at the NWTF ranking it would tie with second place for the best typical. Congratulations!

WOW!
Now that is what I am talking about! Up close and personal, I love taking a mature longbeard under 25 yards! Great job! That is awesome.
