Post Ticks in the woods
It seems like I find at least one tick on my body after every spring hunt. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips about how to avoid getting ticks on you while hunting or how to find/remove them once they are on you.

Wal-Mart has a spray can of stuff that you spray your clothes that keeps insects off of you. It lasts through 5 washings. I use that and I haven't had a tick on me since!

We use a repellent called Permethrin.
Treat yours clothes with it and it works for up to 2 weeks even if ifyou wash the clothes. DO NOT PUT ON SKIN
We have not found a tick on us in years.
We buy it at our Southern States Co-op, but I'm sure Walmart would have it.

I guess it is appropriate that this post was posted this morning.

I have been using the permethrin with good luck the last few years to combat the critters.

However, while I was hunting saturday morning I sat on some kind of critter and it bit me. I couldnt tell what it was.

Well anyhows I forgot about it until my wife got a peek of my rear end last night and freaked out. I had a large welt on my left butt check the size of ahhh, ahhh, ahhh, I really dont know because I cant see it.

Anyhows, I was at the doctors office this morning instead of turkey hunting.

Doc said he didnt think it was lymes but he thinks whatever it was got me good and I have a bad staff infection. He prescribed an antibiotic for ten days.

I will be in the woods in the morning before work but I will look where I sit first.
