Shane has been hunting this one bird here at the house before school every a.m. but he stay on the other side of the road. So he called me and said the next morning he want me and him to go after him. So i thought i have been running to other spots 30-35 min away and have turkeys gobbling everywhere around the house so why not. So we decided to hit the spot the next a.m early but plans changed when my neighbor saw a fellow down the road wheere Shane heard the turkey standing in the road with a puzzle look. He stopped and ask if he needed any help and he said he just hit a big gobbler with his truck. He said the gobbler layed in the road and flopped around then drug hisself into the woods. There were feathers in the road but never found the bird. Now there is not too many times you here of a turkey getting hit by a vehicle!!

Every now and then I see one dead along the interstate......I think they're attracted to the clover patches on the shoulder.

Doug we were hunting several years ago down on Dan River below Danville and was in a store eating some lunch and a bread truck driver came in and had just had one fly into his right side window and almost came in the cab with him.You are right it's odd.

I saw one fly intno the windshield of the car in front of me a few years back. It looked like a black feather pillow exploded.

The woman driving was pretty shock up only damage to the vehicle was a bent wiper blade.

This may top them all.

The wife of a friend of mine was driving home well after dark when something crashed into her windshield. After closer inspection they discovered a mature tom had come thru the windshield and came to rest in the backseat, dead of course.
Spooked off the roost maybe??? Still a mystery.

BT we were hunting down close to Turberville, turned left at the fire department and went down to the river. The land was owned by Lester Lumber Co.Back then all you needed was a $4.yearly permit to hunt all of their property.Boy was that the good ol'days. We also put a small flat bottom jon boat in at the Paces Bridge and floated to South Boston and there was a big island about five miles down never failed to be full of deer. They would stay there to get away from the deer dogs. Finally got permission to go on a diary farm and clobbered several nice birds.Maybe we can hook up sometimes and get after one !!!! that would be great. I've been hunting either in alton or down in south boston near the airport and down the dan river from the airport, and sometimes around on the banister river side too. I've been given permission to hunt over near Leggett's Bottom. Couple of farms over there off of I think it's 119?

I once heard of a mature gobbler getting whacked by a train. Seems he was strutting on the tracks and didn't want to move out of the way, just stood there looking at the oncoming train.
