another one from my "chair"
I got set up yesterday morning before daylight and a bird starts hammerin' at 6:10. For 15 minutes he sounds off. He comes off the roost at 6:25 and there's 10 minutes of silence then BOOM!. One problem, it wasn't me that shot, someone had slipped closer to the tom from the other side. So I sit and wait and wait and WAIT. Finally at 11:05 I get a bird fired up and 8 minutes later he's struttin' 25 yards away in the decoys.
GAME OVER! 17 LB - 6 OZ, 9 INCH BEARD, 1 1/8 INCH SPURS.
Nothing special? Well it was for me.
For those of you that don't know me I'm in a wheel chair. A fall from a bow stand in 1994 left me paralyzed from the chest down with limited use of my arms and no finger movement.
Yesterday made 10 springs out of the last 11 that I have tagged a tom. I'm not saying this to be boastful, but to show you what can be accomplished with help from others just like yourself.
The NWTF has the Wheelin' Sportsmen program that helps those with disabilities get back in the woods. I'm lucky enough that I don't have to rely on this program, but others do. Check into giving some of you time to this program, you might be surprised at how much you enjoy it.

Right on! That is an impressive record!
I couldn't agree more--you're a spokesman for us all. Keep after 'em!
(Sorry you had to deal with the sneaky cheater in there . . . seems to be a lot of that going on this year . . . )
Hey, I am interested in volunteering with the Wheelers. Check your PM's. I don't know what I can do to help since I don't own any land I can offer, but I'd love to do whatever I can . . .

Way to go barry!
Its a great inspiration to me that you have overcome tremendous obstacles and are actively participating in your passion.
I also had a fall out of a bow stand back around the same time period as you. I was pretty busted up but lucky to not been more seriously injured.
By the grace of God Im back at work and getting around pretty good for an old fart.
Best regards iisabigone
