Choke advice
I've got a buddy that has a Remington 870 Super Mag (3.5") w/a 26" barrel who wants some choke advice. He wants to shoot Win HV #5 3.5" shells. What are some good chokes to recommend to him?

BH... That's exactly the same combination I shoot. If he can find one I would highly recommend a Star-Dot choke. I honestly don't know the constriction but someone on here can probably tell you.
It might not be the tightest pattern but it's very uniform and consistant for me.

I shoot a winchester and was looking to buy a star dot choke for a while. i know that the ones I was looking at were .668 constriction. I would think it would be the same for the rem-choke, but i'm not sure.

Kick's .665 seems to work
My buddies 870 seems to shoot almost all loads well with his Kick's 665. That might be a good starting point for you.

Check WalMart, they used to carry Star Dot Chokes. They were in the circular display case with the shotguns. That was last year, haven't looked this season.

Three guys on my lease use Rem 870's with Stardot chokes. They all shoot Hevi-13s too. They all have very good patterning setups.

If you can't find the Stardot I'd recommend the Primos jelly head. I bought one and it quickly replaced the much more expensive Kicks I've used. Several folks I know have had success with the jelly head also.

Ditto! I have quite a few friends that are using a Jelly Head with their 870's... most are using Hevi-13 #6's... with some using the Winchester Extended Range #5's and #6's.
