Heard 6-8 this AM in Bedford County. Decent roost gobbling and a few gobbles on the ground. Also saw 6 longbeards come out in a pasture with a gaggle of hens.

They are henned up big time
Was at the area I hunt this morning and heard 5 gobbles at circa 520 am, from what I surmized was two birds.
Heard one out of the same group gobble at about 6 am after a crow flew by cawing and then again at a group of four mallards who came buzzing by while being most talkative.
At about 630 while I was slipping back to the car came across a group of 9 birds. Four gobblers (one big strutter) and five hens about 80 yards away. Watched them with binoculars for better part of a 30 minutes until they slipped away. Never once did that bird gobble and fact he was pretty much in full strutt the entire time. One of the other long beards broke into a strutt once or twice for a few seconds, but no doubt who was the boss bird in the group.
Anyway, could be very tough indeed if they are henned up this bad next week. The good news is the ratio of gobbler to hens in this group is pretty darn good.

Saw a group of 4 hens and 1 gobbler this afternoon. He wasn't even strutting!! Surrounded by a bunch of hot chicks on a gorgeous sunny afternoon, and he may as well have been one of them!! Grow up and STRUT!!

The wind has killed me the last 2 mornings... 25 MPH or more each morning! I did see a big longbeard with 4 hens yesterday in a huntable location!

Me and Hody heard several birds this AM but each of them only gobbled a time or two on the roost. I think they are locked down in serious breeding mode right now... might be tough for the first couple days.
