Post wich load should i go with?
Ok, I'm down to 2 shells now and I can't decide which one to go with. First of all with the 3" Winchester Supreme 1.75 oz HV #6 that travels 1300 fps I got 216 pellets in a 7 3/4" circle at 30 yards and 79 pellets in that same circle at 40 yards. Then I patterned the 3" Federal Flite Control 2 oz #6 that travels 1150 fps and I got 250 pellets in a 7 3/4" circle at 30 yards and 80 pellets in the same circle at 40 yards. I was shooting a winchester 1300 with Tru-Glo Gobble Stopper Xtreme. Which one should I go with?

Looks like basically a wash so go with the 1 3/4 oz and take it easy on your shoulder.m2cts

Could go either way on that one... I see Bird Dog's point... and if you are a "shot freak" you may wanna go with the Federal's. Looks like he'll die no matter which one you choose.

It's your call man!

Like others have said before "dead is dead."
For my part I would choose the one that's going faster- the HV- more speed = more penetration at the longer distances.

FAST IS FAST... AND BOTH WILL KILL A TURKEY...

I LIKE THIS , THE MORE SHOT I HAVE IN A KILL CIRCLE THE BETTER, I LIKE MORE SHOT.. THEN SPEED OF THE SHOT GETTING TO THE BIRD.

Right you are Stirker1300, but looking at the results HokieGobbler had at 40 yards there was just a one pellet difference in the count. I just figured that maybe his gun had a little more affection for the Win. HV's.

Me personally, I shoot a 2 oz. load of # 6s

I ALWAYS GO WITH THE MOST SHOT , I HAVE A NWTF WIN1300 SHORT 18" AND THE BEST LOAD FOR THIS GUN AND A 660 IN IT, THE BEST IS THE HARD TO GET ACTIVE TURKEY LOADS 3" MAG. IT HAS 2 1/4 OZ. OF # 6'S. IT HAS A NICE KILL CIRCLE AT 30 & 40 YDS. @ 30 YDS 287-264 N A 12" CIRCLE

I HAVE A BROWNING GOLD HUNTER GOT A 675 N IT AND THE BEST IN THIS GUN WAS THE REM HEVI-SHOT #6 3 1/2 @ 30 YDS 326-303, AND AT 40 YDS 173-119 IN A 12" CIRCLE.

......BUT I GOT THE NEW WINCHESTER XTENDED # 6 3 1/2 WITH A 675 AND NOW I GET 342-339 @ 30 YDS BUT IT GOT BETTER AT 40 YDS 253 -231 IN A 12" A LOT MORE THEN THE REM HAVE-SHOT.

I WILL STAY WITH THE BEST LOADS IN MY GUNS . I HAVE SHOT A LOT OF LOADS 3" AND 3 1/2" COPPER AND HEVE-SHOT IN MY TURKEY GUNS AND I KNOW WHAT WORKS IN THEM.

ONE GUN MY LIKE ONE LOAD AND AOTHER GUN WONT.

LOAD THE GUN WITH WHAT WORKS BEST, AND WHAT YOU LIKE , BUT YOU GOT TO TRY THEM ALL .

YOUR GUN IS V-GOOD WITH WHAT YOU ARE LOADING IN IT, BOTH WILL DO THE JOB. HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD SEASON.

You can't go wrong with either load, both will get the job done, it's just a matter of what you want to hunt with.
Keep em Gobblin!

HAY BERRY...YES WE DO AND IT ONLY TAKES ONE TO KILL HIM IF HES IN THE KILL ZONE!!!!!!

AS A RULE TO GO BY, IF YOU CAN PUT 100 PELLETS IN A 10" CIRCLE @ 30 -40 YDS THATS V-GOOD

.......BUT

FOR BEST RESILTS, PELLET HITS SHOUD BE UNIFORM AND EVENLY DISTRIBUTED WITH 4-6 OR MORE HITS IN THE TURKEY VITAL AREAS AT 30 - 40 YDS.

LESS THEN 100 IN A 10" ...TRY A NEW TURKEY LOAD.

BUT THATS ME... ONE WILL DO THE JOB.

STRIKER1300, I agree that a uniform pattern is what we should all "shoot" for. AND just because one shell works well in one gun don't take for granted that another gun will shoot it just as well, different guns have different tastes so test it before hunting with it.
Good huntin' to ya,

barry
