I don't know how often they mess with a living skunk. That fella's tail is up and at the ready, so he must be a little nervous. If you think about it, skunks feed in the open and are not fast. If they were a favorite of yotes or cats, they'd be cleaned out pretty fast. I bet if was hungry enough he would grab him.

But....a dead skunk won't be passed by. They will dig them a couple feet out of the ground.

I just trapped my first skunk this week, denning under someone's house. Skunks are totally fascinating to me . . . especially now that my new job involves some up close work with them!

They have this relaxed arrogance about them, like they know that nothing is going to bother them. I dig 'em! Might change my mind if I get hosed by one!

I had a friend nailed at point blank by a skunk, not good, especially since I had to share a tent with him.
