This is what I got so far, I'm meeting the NAFA truck first think in the moring. Sorry for the garage photo, not quite a pretty barnside:

2 of the yotes I've sold already local, but these are going to NAFA and I think they will do well:

Neill,

I know that wolf fur won't freeze or frost, that is why they use in in parkas and such. Do coy dogs and fox have the same properties? Just wondering.

What is the NAFA truck? Where do you get the schedule? How much are coyote and fox pelts going for these days?

Thanks!

Vic...I don't know. They do use coyotes fur as trim on parkas though.

NAFA is the fur auction in Canada. I met the guy this morning at a non-scheduled stop...gave him a call and he told me where to be, he was on the road to pick up from dealers.

The market sets the prices and theres lot of variables, so there is a lot of variation even on furs from the same area.....market should be good this year, we'll see how it goes next month. $20 would normally be a good average for fox. Coyotes less.

and as I'm sure you know, there probably wasn't a year in the last 5 prior to that where either broke $20 at that same sale, hence "normally"......also if you only had 1 red or a few greys, that's not a good indication of the overall average of the sale, not to say that last year wasn't above average

but if you want a realistic picture of the industry, you need to go back a few years and consider the ebb and flow. $20 is a good year in view of the big picture, and I haven't seen any one item stay hot very long without busting....have you?

We too got all our fur dried in time to get in on the NAFA Feb. sale. Met the truck Dec. 29th. Had to drive a little further than usual but indications point to a good sale so we made it work. Here's hoping and wishing you luck as well. Sent up 82 pelts, one yote and 2 black rats headed to the tannery.
