a few Bedford county yotes
submissive female, 2 yr old I think MB 550... yote/grey double, grey's on the right in the same trap that held the other female 2 days earlier. check out the location. calf dump/boneyard a few hundred yards down on the left by those pines. If a fella doesn't set this it's time for golf. same dog, alpha female, fairly agressive alpha male, gave me a good howl

Neill,
How big are those song dogs, 40 to 50lbs? They look big to me. Does there fur have the same properties as a wolf, won't frost? Are you getting any money for their pelts? Looks like they would make a nice pair of slippers to me.

Re: a few Bedford county yotes
Vic, they weighed 26, 30 and 36. I don't know what the fur is worth. Last year coyotes sold well for the first time in a while. Color and fur qualities are factors but I don't know how to grade a coyote. Generally I think the paler the better. I like the silver tips on the young one (don't know if shows in the photo). My vacation ended yesterday and I pulled all my traps. Had a great time though! The coon weren't move last week anywhere and I only caught a few. The ones I caught were out of a dairy barn living off high protein cattle feed and had very nice fur.....this is probably the nicest coon I ever caught:

Re: a few Bedford county yotes
Nice catches. Saw 2 coons leave the barn where i hunt last week in the rain. Coyote have been very active here at home lately. I generally hear yipping and howls but 2 nights ago It sounded long and loud more wolf like than Ive ever heard.

Re: a few Bedford county yotes
Thanks for the information. That is a nice coon. I always thought the blacker the better for coons. Years ago we had a small black coon and got more for his pelt than a coon twice his size. Then again things change. We use to get $50 for a gray fox and $70 for a nice red fox.
A friend is after muskrat now and he said he is getting $5 a pelt and $2 for the carcase. That is pretty good money for today's standards.
Good luck if you get back out.

Good going man! I see you using the duke DP's, we also bought a dozen to try out this year and were very pleased with them. We hope to get back out as soon as we get a decent dry stretch of weather. Our beaver season just came in so we'll be after them if we can find any as well.

Re: a few Bedford county yotes
Bigmeat....those are high falutin lil grizz... ....the ones that duke put out of business. I've been using them for a few years and they are great. Around that barn I baited them with marsh mellow and fruit lure and managed not catch any of the 2 dozen barn cats running around. Coalman, in those parts coyotes are around but not quite taking over imo. That particular farm seems to be a hot spot. My homeplace is 20 miles away and a coyote or 2 might come through every few weeks. Still plenty of fox, more grey than red.
