Post Anybody setting traps this year?
Just dipped my last few traps today and I am looking forward to getting started! May get an early start this weekend with beaver that's dug a big hole in our pond damn. If I get the chance I'll trap him this weekend and dig out the overflow to see if there's more to clog it back up.

I got a lot of new traps in the off season, I made a skinning machine to speed up the skinning, picked up a lot of new properties to trap. My hope is to take some time off in December and go at it full bore. Hopefully we can get this forum going with lots of pics this year and keep everybody motivated!

Yep, plan to setup a couple farms this thursday and run them for 3 days and then on the 17th me and my younger brother will set out a massive line that covers two counties, land and water and run them for 9 or 10 days. We've hit it that same week for over 10 years now. Our most anticipated week of the outdoor year. We were in his garage making rebar stakes just last night. I'd post a couple pics but photobucket is not uploading for some reason.

Bigmeat...that's the way to go running a 9-10 line like that. I hope to do it this year between rifle season and the late muzzleloader. Hopefully won't have to worry about deer hunters at that time. Can't wait!

Just a quick update on my and my brothers trapping so far this year. Lots of rain the past few days has put us behind the 8 ball. Only 7 fox caught so far, think we'll have to run a line later on when there isn't so much mud to deal with. Have had a good run on muskrats and have around 25 including some real whoppers. Coons have been steady, i think we have about 16 so far. Did catch our first ever black coon, gonna have him tanned, a real shiny black. I'll post pics of him when i get a chance. Two more nights and then we'll pull every thing up for our MD deer opener on saturday. All in all not a bad week considering the crazy weather we've dealt with, woulda liked to have had at least twice as many fox but we'll hit them again down the road before the season is out, good luck to anybody slinging steal! Happy Turkey day tomorrow!

Nice job on the reds there! I've never caught one. I've seen them on the place so I know they're around, still haven't caught one in a trap. Hope that changes this year.

Pulled most of the traps today. Ended the week with 33 muskrats, 19 coon and 11 fox. Opening day of gun deer season in MD tomorrow. We'll hit the trapline again later on when beaver season opens up and hopefully add to those totals. All in all a real good week of trapping.
