Post Re: trap size
Personally my coyote traps are bridger #2, offset laminated jaws, base plated with a shock spring added to the chain. They hold coyotes with no problems. Only reason that I could think to use a larger trap on coyotes is if you are expecting a lot of snow cover on your sets, which in Va shouldn't normally be too much of a concern. Also keep in mind that inside jaw spread can't exceed 6.5"....trap sizes vary according to brand.

A #3 is plenty and I think most #4's are too big as per the regs.
