Welcome!
After several requests and a noticable increase in the trapping/predator/varmit posts I figured it was time for this...
Thanks to a new moderator "OldRuffHunter" for helping me out with this one!
Have at it guys!!

I'm liking it. My next trapping season starts about June 15 th. Welcome aboard the USS Coalman.
Can you guess my quarry?
I just call 'em bugs. They help me pay for the boat gas to support my striper fishing habit.
They also taste pretty good.
Life in coastal NH does have it perks.

I'm about to quit hunting coyotes in about a week or so due to pups being born. As much as I like to kill them I respect any animal to let pups starve. So maybe around late june I'll start again. But I believe this will be a great help for both hunters and trappers alike. I can't wait for all the great info nd stories to start. Brian

BTW Coalman I'd trade you a great turkey hunt for a bunch of those oversize crawdads.

Very nice! I know I will like it here. Looking forward to hearing from others on their successes and experiences.
I just shipped my fur to NAFA over the weekend for the upcoming May auction. It is pretty cool. They broadcast the auction live over the internet. I can watch the bids on my lots as they come in as well as hear it in real time. Word is that everything will sell. Prices have ticked up due to the Chinese, mostly. Been a good season for me this year. The only Virginia furbearers I did not take were otter and nutria. I don't trap otters just because, and we don't have nutria around these parts thank goodness. Got to spend some good time with some great friends on my lines this year. Lots of work but lots of fun too. Freddy and I still need to post the pics from our Beaver exploits. He is, of course, a natural at it. Caught a total of 7 from this one strectch of creek for one of his landowners. Definitely helps the relations. You should have seen the damage the beavers were doing to this guys planted pines....amazing creatures.

Big Bird, did you end up with a bobcat this year? Don't think I saw a pic of one . . .
Coalman, you are driving us southern boys nuts! That is enough to make me want to pull stakes and sign up as a Yankee . . . well, almost anyway. 100" of snow, beaver galore to trap, bumping into to moose while scouting for turkeys, and now a bucket o' bugs . . . too much!! Thanks for sharing.
