Over the last month the geese have been flying on cloudless blue bird sky days. Today? Clouds... sleet... snow... rain... we made the best out of what we had to work with. We were joined this morning by a good friend and his two boys looking for a repeat of a few days back. Decoys out and a light wind just the way we needed to put the birds in our face. Only two birds showed all morning, committing but never dropped landing gear. On the approach they had wings cupped but weren't coming down so when they were out front, I gave the 'take em' and three of the four juniors emptied their guns along with the two dads cutting a couple loose. Fun morning watching these kids work with decoys, cover and guns.

Multiple shot volleys like that always put a smile on my face when i hear them from a distance while i'm out myself, always a twinge of jealousy !

Geese this year have been acting like geese usually do......Hard to pattern in late season....The past 3 weeks we've been killing limits or almost limits but I've had to scout a whole lot more....

Seems like blue bird days=hunt ponds ...lakes........Fowl weather=hunt fields....cornfields or cow pastures......Anyway it's done for another year.....Come on duck season 2012-13!!!!!
