I have a local farm that always hold a few geese. The farmer called asking if I was planning to wack & stack this year as he already has 80 using his cattle tank every day. Looks like it's GAME ON for an opening day early season goose hunt And what's nice...only about 15 mins. from the house!

Yea, lucky to have the spot but once we hunt the one time, we'll blow em off the farm. It usually is regular season before they will return and we can get after em again.
Sooooo many places in the area the can feed without any hunting pressure. One of the last farms in the area,certainly one of the last to have enough land to hunt

If you only get one chance take a lot of hunters with you. Not that I am voluteering. How many can each of you all take early season. I think it is up to 8 here in MD.

So, for the sake of having conversation,no skin of my nose what folks do..... Like I stated, we do hunt them as long and as often as we can, then at the last min. we will put the stalk on them and wack& stack as many as we can.That usually consist of a jump shoot at the pond. It' simply put.... killing geese. get very little statisfaction out of the shooting. I enjoy figuring them out,setting up the decoys and doing our thing as we work the birds.
We are all turkey hunters here,to me it would be like slipping in close to a turkey and shooting him on the flush as opposed to calling him to ya. Just saying!

By ambush I meant getting to the tank before them with a few dekes, then when the come in whack them. I have no problem jump shooting geese. I use to walk drainages and jump shoot ducks. It is tough.

Like hogs, geese are getting out of hand. I swear every mud puddle up here had a pair of geese on it. It is insane, but good for us hunters!

I'm with ya Vic, thought you met snickin up on em and blasting away. yes, jumps shooting ducks on small creeks ditches is alot of fun. And you are right about the goose pops!
