Post Talking to critters....
So. any of you guys into Canada Goose hunting? As much as I enjoy the thrill of talkin turkey each spring. I find it equally as thrilling to talk a flock of big fat Canada Geese down and into the Pocket. Oh, I like my duck hunting, but those geese....they are something sprecial! Hope about you?

I started waterfowl hunting about 8 or 9 years ago, way late in my hunting career. Here in SW VA, the waterfowl are not as plentiful as other parts of this great state or other states located along the flyways, but I've enjoyed learning to hunt both ducks and geese. I especially like to hunt geese. Since my vision is not up to par, I often hear the honkers coming long, long before I see them. Getting a family group to lock and drop into our spread is a thrill much like getting a turkey to double/triple gobble for sure. Now that we've finally found a decent jerky recipe for the geese, it's all about bringing home some geese on every trip.

Yep, love to goose hunt, from early September right on thru early March up here in western MD. Here's a pic of a duck and goose combo hunt on a small stream that runs thru a pasture from a few winters ago.

Here's a pic of an early september hunt in a cut corn field in the WV eastern panhandle from this past September, two man limit, took about 15 minutes

Me and my dad had been thinking about getting into goose hunting for the past 5-6 years but it wasn't until the year before last we actually gave it a try. I kinda wish we wouldnt have cuz now we're addicted...every time i hear a honk i find myself looking up for geese and im always looking for deals on decoys. Cant wait til september. Hopefully we get some rain this summer so the corn will make. Some of my best late season spots were cut during august/september. Ended up only having 2-3 cornfields holding birds come feb.
