Re: My Day on the River
Incredible as usual Todd! I've got a lot of work to do to get to that level. What lens do you use for the close up shots? My 300 just won't get me close enough to the ducks on "my" river... they are just too spooky. As close as you can get is 25-30 yards before they swim further away of fly off 100 yards. Get some good flying shots that way but hard to get them to sit still for me! I would buy your breakfast if you let me tag along one morning and give me some tips!

Re: My Day on the River
Freddy, all I have is the 300mm also. I did crop most of mine to bring them in closer. My ducks are not as spooky I am sure. Most of mine come from the maury where it runs through Glen Maury Park. They are used to seeing people. I also take pics on the maury between BV and Glasgow. There I wear camo and get in the weeds on the bank. Most of the time they never see me. This morning I had 2 duck hunters about 200 yards up river of me. They kept them flying this morning. I have been trying to get some good pics of a bald eagle. I never seen him this morning, just ducks and geese. I did see a flock of turkeys mid morning when I went back to my truck, they were in a field across the road. By the time I got my camera ready they were gone...lol I would love to get a 400mm or 500 mm prime lens, but they are super costly.

Re: My Day on the River
Thanks Dale, glad you enjoyed them. I would love to get some better pics of the Mink. I like to take pics of things that you just dont see often. I would like to get a little closer and have better light. I thought maybe if I see him every week he may let me get a little closer each time. Its either that or ask the wife for a bigger zoom. My chances are going to be better trying to tame the Mink...lol
