Nest Parasitism
A good blog on Nest Parasitism here... http://www.ducks.org/blogs/1/300/index.htmlDale and I saw a merganser several years ago that thought it was a goose. Pretty sure it was due to nest parasitism however it could have been just one dumb merganser

Re: Nest Parasitism
Brings back the story of the ugly duckling to me. I knew it happened, but not to the degree this article states. I am surprised this action doesn't cause crossbreeding. You would think that a red head raised by a mallard would think it is a mallard. Fascinating that they go back to their own for mating purposes.
