Post NY Steelhead 2011
This years was not like last year. I went up to my parents house (Buffalo NY) for a few days with Rick (Turk369) and my little boy aiden./ Mom and Dad said that they would keep an eye on Aiden so I could fish the tribs of Lake Erie for the spring Steel Head Run for a few days. Last year was my first year fishing for steelhead. I was hooked (no pun intended) after that. we fished hard for three days, The waters were up very discolored and cold. The steelhead need the water to be above 40 degrees for them to liven up alittle. We saw fish everyday they just were not hungry. My uncle hooked one on day number one. A small male about three pounds. I have been telling Rick that fly fishing for these guys is a blast and once you hook one and land it you will be hooked. Rick finally got into a few on the last day last hour. He did not land one but atleast he had one on.
On the second day after about 100 casts to this same fish 3 fly changes she finally bit the fly. Actually I think the just floated into her mouth :D

This was the only fish I caught. But boy was it worth the drive.

Here she is, A nice fat 8lb Female Steelhead.

Cant wait for next year.
