New York Salmon
Got lucky and am going with some friends to upstate NY to salmon fish. We all leave on Sunday morning. Wondered if any of you have done the salmon thing and have any advice on tactics.
My friends say use a real flexible rod, but I am going to try a 6.5 foot rod using 20 lb fluor carbon line with 12 lb leader. I plan to set my drag low for the initial strike and run than slowly turn up the drag to hopefully pull the big boys in. It is my understanding that the problem is soft jaws on the fish, pull too hard and you will pull the hook right out.
Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
