New River Musky from Today's Float
A friend and I floated the New River today. It was really foggy and
still. Very good conditions. Not more than 15 minutes into the
float, I get bit by a good Musky. I wasn't sure I'd get him in but it
worked out. Since we were in a canoe, did not have a net or a glove,
the pics are of him in the water. He still got a piece of two of my
fingers when I was trying to get him unhooked. That's fair. Had
another one follow my lure all the way to the boat about an hour
later. We'll be doing this again for sure.

I would love to go Musky fishing. I had one follow my lure one time. I didn't believe my eyes because I didn't know that lake had Musky in it. It was back in an area that you could only get to when the lake was way out of its banks. It was exciting, and I would like another chance at one. I understand it is an accomplishment just to get one to follow your lure!

I bought a jon boat to take to school this year and would love to get one of those bad boys. I go to radford and fish on the new alot but mostly for smallies. What kind of lure did you catch that on and in what section of the river?

Caught him on a standard bucktail inline spinner. Downstream from the dam.

That's a good fish BB....Congrats.......Musky fishin has been tough this year since the state record was caught......everybody and they're brother is throwing for em now.....I think muskys are like public land gobblers, they get wise to pressure.
AND, I too, always catch mine between the Claytor Lake Dam and VA/WVA state line....LOL

Well, I figure it's no use to make the expanse too large.......I like to at least give someone a starting point.
