anybody else heading there this year??
i just got back,from an 18 day trip,, and had a great time, the salmon runs were a week late, pretty much over the whole state..
so the fishing was really slow compared to all the other times i have been there.
but still managed to bring some fish home.
i finally broke the 50#mark on king salmon and 100#on halibut,,

(2007 has been a great year got my first turkey this year,
i cant wait for the big game season to get here, and see what is in store for me...)

the king was a blast to catch & the halibut was pure work..
caught a 26" rainbow but it was by accident and it was on my salmon pole, sure would of liked to have hooked him with light tackle..
i have some pictures but still havent taken the time to learn how to post em.
if anybody wants to bother i will email them to ya.

the top picture is a 52 pound king, i have caught lots of high fortys before but this is the first to break 50#
second picture is a 310# halibut my buddy caught out of homer, last year
third is the best day ever for me on halibut, i have caught some in the 90# range but this is the first time to break a hundred, she went 115#

its really quite affordable, if you do a little planning.
say if three people went together, a two week trip can be done for less than 1500.00 and that includes airfare. and if you are a really good tight wad it can be done for around 1200.00
for instance if it is just three friends with out family, you can rent a 17 ft Uhaul van for 30.00 per day instead of a motorhome. at close two 200.00 per day..
get a couple cheep air matteress and some 20.00 sleeping bags, a few of the camping essentials from walmart.
you will save big bucks right there.
the second biggest expeince is if you have to hire guides to get you to the fishing spots, well that is unessasary.
if you get some inside info, there is no problem getting to some great fishing, if ya know where to go. the halibut trip is the only one that i havent figured out how to save on its 200.00 a day cause you just aint gonna do so well for them without a boat..
i have been going for the last eight years, and it just keeps getting cheaper and better.
if any body wants a little info i am pretty sure i could help dial you in on dates where to fish and what to use.
