I had the good fortune to be on my favorite lake here in Eastern Virginia when it was above full pool. This allowed me to glide over a concrete pipe that I could never fish across. I was fishing for bass but had an unusual looking fish follow the bait. I said, "That looks like a Muskie, but there aren't any Muskie's in this lake, Are there?" I did the figure eight I have heard you can do. He followed the lure then swished away. That is the only time I have been able to cross that pipe, and he was the only one i have seen in the wild. I sure liked it, and I sure would like to try one again. This time on purpose! I would guess that the one I had follow my bait was at least 3 or 3 1/2 feet long. By the way, I asked at the bait shop where you pay your launch fees and found out that there are indeed Muskie in that lake, as well as Walleye.
I don't guess that really qualifies me as a Muskie fisherman, but I really like sharing that story. It was a really cool day on the water!
