Opening Day WV Buck down
This big boy came sneaking up the mountain behind me opening morning in WV about 7 a.m.. It was cold and windy and I heard foot steps that I figured were a deer so I slowly stood up, hunting on the ground because of the high winds, and he was right behind me just standing there about 50 yards away. Wind was in my favor and he never did see me. I grabbed the gun and threw it up without time for a rest and he started walking to my left so I let the .270 eat. He looked hit as he ran back down the mountain but I wasn't sure of the off hand shot so I waited a little before looking for blood. By the time I found blood I also saw him laying there, he didn't make it 50 yards, drilled in the shoulder. Easily my biggest WV buck antler wise. 125 inch 9 pt that weighed 125lbs.
