Post First sign of rut I've seen!! and I made it count!
Had a great morning this morning guys! I was actually agrivated due to things slowing way way up at my place and even contemplated sleeping in this morning!! I was getting bored about 08 20 ish and needed to stretch. I got ready to stand up and took one look around and spotted a doe about 40 yards away. She started to leave quickly and I bleated at her several times and she would only stop behind trees. She was over 100 yards away now and she stopped with a very small window of opportunity. I didn't think I was going to hit her but I was agrivated at another one getting away and pulled the trigger! She dropped in her tracks! ! I couldn't believe it! I get out of my blind and head over to her. I started taking some pics of her and after a couple minutes ii heard something walking above me. I looked up and saw this nice 8 point running towards me! Undoubtedly on the trail of his now deceased girlfriend! He stopped like the always do behind some brushy stuff and I saw one again a small window. Pulled the trigger and the buck took off.. up hill.. I bleated hard at him and he stopped at 25 yards behind some more trees and all I saw was his head and neck. He raised his nose to locate me and I settled in on that white patch. BOOM!!! He dropped! The I started shaking!!!!! :) he's not as big as last year's dear ( which was a year ago tomorrow) but he's my second biggest buck! He's broke up pretty good too so I knkw he's been doing some fighting! Hopefully it's getting cranked up here! Should be a good couple days!! :)
